Congratulations, You Are a Douchebag

I just need to make a complaint about something that I saw today. I was at In ‘N Out Burger with two friends, and I happened to see something happen that really gets under my skin. We had just come into the restaurant and as I was called up to give my order to the woman at the register, a man who had just grabbed his food leaned over to her and said, “Thanks for screwing up my order.” Then he walked away. At first I thought he had said something a little more friendly, or in a sarcastic tone. But the poor woman just looked at him and I could tell she was a taken back, and a little offended. I watched the guy walk away, as he did so he glanced back and glared at the girl. At this point I was just about to give my order, I was overly friendly to the girl to try and make up for this guy’s rudeness.
Later, after I had gone home, I was still annoyed with this guy. Who in this world thinks they can treat another human being in that way? I had a similar experience at my work when I worked in a sandwich store. A woman was in a hurry so she was demanding her sandwich right then. I was not finished, so I was trying to hurry. After I had gotten the sandwich made I went to put it in a container so it would stay fresh, but she said to me, “No, I want it wrapped.” I just looked at her strangely, the only thing I could think of was wrapping it in saran wrap, so I went over and began cutting a piece for her sandwich. She then said, “Excuse me! I don’t want it wrapped like that! I want it like a New York sandwich!” Well excuse me for being an idiot. We live in the West, we do thing different here. So I did it the way she wanted, as I gave her the sandwich I apologized for it taking some time to make it. Her reply was, “It is not my fault you did not have things ready. Thank you.” She then left. I was really annoyed at how I was treated like I was beneath her. When I saw that guy this evening treat this girl that way I wanted to smash in his headlights on his car so he would be put out even more. We are all human, we deal with your mistakes, so don’t belittle us when we make one too.
Patience is something our world is losing quickly. Manners are something that people are not teaching their children. Being a good example to kids and demonstrating patience, even if your day seems to be going so poorly, might influence someone for the better. To this guy and all those other people out in the world who are rude to others for dumb reasons. Also to the people who act as if they are better than the average man. Congratulations, you’re a douchebag.
