The Siren That Draws in Un-expecting Mortals

When I first began thinking about the blog I was going to write about Taylor Swift, I wanted to be honest, which would have sounded rude. But as I listened to her music today, I was thinking, “She is really not bad at all. Maybe just a little conceded, but not terrible.” The problem is I was thinking these things while I was listening to her music. She must have been casting a spell on me or something; I thought I was thinking straight but… only she knows what she was doing to me. So I will just say what I was going to in the first place. Taylor, you are a little selfish and you like to sing with the same tune. There it has been said.
Let us start with the music. I have to say, the music is nice. It serenades me while I am working, entertains me when I am bored, and sometimes she sings me to sleep. But there is a tune that sounds like the same song with different lyrics. I know each artist has their own individual sound, and they model new songs after past popular songs. But I think Taylor Swift has a template of some sort that she begins her new songs after. Maybe it has something to do with a sirens song, except she does not lead ships to their death. She leads us, the common person, to buy her new CD which we will listen to constantly until she can win every music related award out there. This seems more plausible than the idea I had of her using witchcraft in her songs to steal our souls. I just want to be surprised by something really new.
I think that ‘Speak Now’ is the best CD to date. I thoroughly enjoy the song ‘Mean’ because it is a total revenge song, and I like revenge. When I was listening to this song I was getting worried that if she ever see’s this post, she will probably write a song about me too… and it will be an unearthly song. Death metal sounding with screams of terror in the background and the title will be called, ‘Kill the internet blogger!’ at least it will be a new sound.
I don’t really feel like this about her. I only wanted to give her some words of criticism to try and help her grab a larger audience. For example let us use Ke$ha, she is not that interesting, she probably really can’t sing that well, but her songs are catchy. You can’t help but listen to her get drunk and then eat helpless young men. (See post titled: How Morbid Can We Get?) Alright T Girl, please do this and I will love you more than I already do. And please don’t write a song about me. I am here to help you, not make fun of you. I do have to say, the song ‘Haunted’ is different. Take that direction again.
Now, before we are finished I want to address the issue of how she views herself. Taylor Swift is a cute girl, but her problem is that she knows she has good looks. And she tries to use her looks to catch the audience. I am sorry, but when you do this you make me cringe. Just be a normal individual instead of the person who has the look on her face that says, “I am the hottest thing here. Oh wait, there is Jennifer Aniston. Must throw her death looks while I try to look hotter than her.” You know? Your songs reflect on what kind of person you are. This is the profile I have come up with for Taylor Swift. She is a girl who has a lot of regrets. She is ticked that all her former boyfriends left her for an actress, or he trashed her in some way. Or she let him go and now she wants to ruin his wedding, although she does not rudely barge in a white veil occasion. She will do it so she can get the guy she wants. I think she needs to listen to ‘Born This Way’ by Lady GaGa. Then she can give up her insecurities, and be happy being without all those superficial guys. Let’s face it she is WAY out of their league, ALL of the guys she has dated are beneath her. (Now I see why she thinks highly of herself, it is comments like that that do it to her)
Taylor Swift is still a great singer, and she has accomplished a lot in her short lifetime. Unfortunately she has had to face a lot of crap from critics and even other singers. She needs to know that she has at least one fan out there that will stand up for her anytime. I am looking forward to see her blossom into her full potential.

  1. I would like to make a little notice about my post here. I have been listening to Taylor Swift a lot recently, and her new album, "Speak Now" has been different from her other albums. I still would like to see her take a new approach at things. But I did want to say that she has already switched things up a bit. And I appriciate that. This is one more reason why I love her.
